“Discipline and consistency. I owe these two factors all have attained in my life. Things have never happened overnight. Results have appeared as a consequence of decades long toil. It is necessary to persist.”Carlson Gracie Jr
The BULLYSTOP MIXED MARTIAL ARTS ACADEMY consists of hundreds of students worldwide. We have been working extensively with various
Clinical Psychologists on how to incorporate Mixed Martial Arts as a vehicle to help with early stage problems such as Low self-esteem, lack of
coordination, bullying, Peer pressure etc.
Mixed Martial Arts is the best reality based art in the world and has been proven to assist individuals regardless of age, gender and race to build their
self-image as well as teach them valuable school and adult life readiness skills and of course, keep them fit!
Most people have the impression that Martial arts will encourage aggressive behaviour but it has been proven to be quite the opposite, the students natural progression is always one where they come to mature to the fact that the more martial arts they know, the less they need it… and it is a beautiful sight to see the confidence grow inside a young person… and see them go from strength to strength, both inside and out.
We educate students of our academy on the following:
Self-esteem: Our first priority is to enhance the self-esteem of the individual student. If students feel good about themselves, they will participate freely in activities of their choice. If they do not have confidence in their own abilities, they will tend to avoid taking part. Our teaching method has been formulated to develop self-confidence and self-discipline and help the students to realise their full potential.
Physical development: Nature has a way to develop the human body and that way is built into our genes. We explore and expand the innate
movement patterns of students, with the emphasis on developing basic physical fitness e.g. endurance, flexibility, strength and motor skills such as
balance, co-ordination and agility
Self-defence: We teach the students the science and art of self- defence. We teach them how to deal with aggressive behaviour from others, as well
as with their own feelings of aggression, without losing control of themselves. We also teach them compassion and a greater understanding of conflict in general and positive ways to resolve it. If they are ever attacked, they will be prepared on a physical, mental and emotional level.
Awareness: We make the students aware of potentially dangerous situations, through a series of games, as well as teaching them the basis of
problem solving. The statistics of child molestation, kidnapping, murder, rape and muggings committed against our children show that a program like this is very necessary
Fun: The students have a lot of fun while learning essential physical and physiological skills, as well as learning how to maintain positive thought
patterns. We help them to channel their energy into positive activity and show them how to deal with problems and setbacks in a constructive way.
Competition: At the end of the year we offer the opportunity, for the students that are interested, to test themselves under competitive circumstances. The students will take part in age- and weight categories to ensure a safe and fair competition for all. The competition is totally voluntary. If the student feels ready, he/she will ask to compete. A fight is by its very nature very competitive, so we are teaching them how to handle victory and defeat in a positive way.
Grading: We offer an internationally recognized grading system to our students.
The future: When the students leave school, they can join an adult group in the area.
